چکیده

China’s energy market reform is characterized by “asymmetry” as a result of the transition from planned economy to economy, leading typical distortions in prices. Using panel data 30 Chinese provinces during 2006–2018, this paper examines impact price fossil sources (coal, oil, and natural gas) well renewable on economic growth carbon emissions. The results show that coal distortion highest among sources, followed oil gas. Renewable positively distorted. Not all significantly impede growth—only those energy. In contrast, gas promote growth. All four contribute increase Further analysis reveals regional heterogeneity exists Additionally, study finds technological innovation, industrial structure upgrading, investment effect, optimization consumption structure, environmental regulations are important transmission mechanisms affecting findings can help us understand relationship between emissions, provide reference for formulating policies benefit win-win development environment.

Price Distortions and Economic Growth in Sub-Saharan Africa

To what extent has Sub-Saharan Africa’s slow economic growth over the past five decades been due to price and trade policies that have discouraged production of agricultural relative to non-agricultural tradables? This paper uses a new set of estimates of policy distortions to relative prices to address this question econometrically. We first test if these policy distortions respond to economic...

The Impacts of Population Change and Economic Growth on Carbon Emissions in Nigeria

T he main aim of this study is to investigate the impacts of population total, gross domestic product per capita, urbanization rate and energy use on carbon emissions in Nigeria for a period of 1981-2015 using autoregressive distributed lag approach to co-integration (ARDL). The empirical results revealed evidence of a long run relationship among the variables. The generalized ridge ...

Carbon Emissions and Economic Growth: Homogeneous Causality in Heterogeneous Panels

This paper introduces the concept of homogeneous non-causality in heterogeneous panels. This concept is used to examine a panel of data for evidence of a causal relationship between GDP and carbon emissions. The technique is compared to the standard test for homogeneous non-causality in homogeneous panels and heterogeneous non-causality in heterogeneous panels. In North America, Asia and Oceani...

Carbon Dioxide Emissions, economic growth and energy mix: empirical evidence from 93 countries

This paper provides an empirical analysis of CO2 emissions and economic growth, based on a panel dataset covering 93 countries over the period 1960-2008, and examines the challenge of country selection for homogenous and appropriates groups. Foremost, we have proposed a no parametric hierarchic clustering approach, based on 17 criteria and used the Hierarchical Clustering on Principal Component...
